Teacher Bio Curriculum Homework

The first thing you need to know about me is that I am a huge geek. More than that, I am proud if it. I get excited about things like literature, poetry, playing with words, and how we convince each other to believe this or that. I am interested in how people make meaning of what they read, see, and listen to. The history of our world is created through the stories we tell and write down, so learning to interpret these stories enriches our lives and the lives of our children. Language arts is my passion. Because of this passion, I'm not afraid to have fun with it. My goal in teaching is to have students look beyond the words to the deeper meaning that lives within each text and decide if they like what is being said. Perhaps they can even change the conversation by adding their own ideas.

I completed a Bachelor of Science Degree in Communication Arts and Literature at St Cloud State University in 2011. This September marks the beginning of my 6th year as a teacher, and I am excited to work with all of the students and parents that enter my room this school year.

Students will be reading stories and completing activities from the Reading Street Series.  Along with reading stories, students will complete projects that show their mastery of the skills we are practicing.
