License Renewal Information

Teacher License Renewal

 

RELICENSURE INFORMATION

Relicensure information will be provided by the TIES/MIMS/UMA Relicensure consortium.  Information regarding committee dates and times will follow upon availability.

Additional information can be found on the Minnesota department of Education (MDE) website.

· Please keep in mind that it is your responsibility to make sure your license is up to date and that you have the needed clock hours for relicensure.

· We will provide you with CEU’s for staff development MIMS sponsors.

Requirements-

1) 125 Continuing Education Units (CEU’s) earned over the previous 5 year licensure cycle

2)  30 CEU’s in area of licensure

3) CEU’s in each of the state required areas of:

a.Positive Behavioral Intervention Strategies

b. Accommodation, Modification, and Adaptation of Curriculum, Materials and Instruction

c. Key Warning Signs for Early-Onset Mental Illness in Children and Adolescents

d. Reading Preparation

e.Technology

f. English Learners

4) Reflective Statement of Professional Accomplishment and Assessment of Professional Growth – (meeting statutory requirements)

5) Please note that the Suicide Prevention requirements will take effect in 8-1-2017.


Teachers with two or more endorsement areas are expected to earn 30 clock hours in each area in which licensure is requested. Banking of hours for the next renewal period is not permitted.

Completion of the license renewal process is the responsibility of the teacher.  Licenses expire on June 30.  Renewals should be submitted after January 1 of the expiration year.  Teachers can earn continuation education units (CEUs) during workshop week and professional development days sponsored in the district.

Teachers of Minnesota International Middle School will send all materials through the Twin Cities International Elementary School, Minnesota International Middle School, Ubah Medical Academy Licensure Recertification Consortium.  Please contact the district committee representative (Ms.Victoria for MIMS) with additional questions on procedures for obtaining clock hour approval. 

PLEASE NOTE:  Current and former employees of Minnesota International Middle School may send their materials into the committee for license renewal.

Relicensure Committee

The Relicensure Committee is a group of elected Teachers, Administrators, and a school board appointed Community Member who will review teacher relicensure materials, approve continuing education clock hours (CEUs), and enter data into the State of MN Licensing System for teacher relicensure.
